Dominion theology
Dominion theology or dominionism is a label for a group of Christian political ideologies that supposedly seek to institute a government by Christians based on their personal understandings of biblical law. Prominent adherents of these ideologies are theologically diverse, with extents of rule and ways of achieving governing authority varying. The label is applied primarily toward groups of Christians in the United States.
Those labelled dominionists rarely use the terms dominionist and dominionism for self-description. Some have argued that they support democracy and are not different from other interest groups seeking to support their views by democratic methods.
Some leftist critics have applied the label dominionism more broadly to the whole Christian right, despite that such critics do not apply similar labels on, for example, all right-wing jews or Muslims, a politically correct double standard.
