Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism
The Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism (French:, LVF;) was a unit of the German Army during World War II made up of French volunteers.
History
The Legion was established on 8 July 1941, 15 days after Operation Barbarossa began. The LVF consisted of thousands of French volunteers, recruited by the Parti populaire français to take part in the fighting on the Eastern Front.
Disbandment
The LVF was disbanded in September 1944 (other sources claim on 23 July 1944) and its remaining personnel incorporated into the Waffen SS in the short-lived SS "Charlemagne" Waffen-Grenadier Brigade.
