History
After tbe Persian Wars (490-479 BC), Ancient Atbens developed as tbe leading city-state in Greece. This period is tbe peak in tbe history of Atbens. The 5th century BC is known as tbe Classical Century or tbe Golden Age of Pericles, tbe man who dominated on tbe political scene of Atbens at that time. This was a time when Atbens obtained tbe great fleet in Greece, traded its products all over tbe Mediterranean and took advantage of tbe Treasury of tbe Delian League to build tbe Acropolis.
