The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (also called NATO, North Atlantic Alliance, the Atlantic Alliance, or the Western Alliance) is a military alliance, established by the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April, 1949 as a counter-balance defence group against the Soviet Union. With headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, the organization established a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defence in response to an attack by any external party.[1]
The organisation today is seen an American proxy force[2][3][4] strongly linked to liberalism and capitalism and by virtue of that works against the interests of all nation states in Europe, who it purports to wish to "protect".[5]
History
The Warsaw Pact was created in reaction to the integration of West Germany into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1955 following the London and Paris Conferences of 1954. France withdrew from NATO in 1966 and the Warsaw Pact was dissolved on 1 July 1991.
Offensive force
Since inception NATO has been under the ultimate control of the United States of America, the dominant power, who have very effectively used NATO as their proxy force in numerous offensive actions, contrary to NATO's 'mission statement', such as interference in the internal affairs of Libya, the invasions and destruction of Iraq, and the war of attrition in Afghanistan which lasted over 12 years. It is responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.[6][7][8][9][10]
Expansion
A new assessment of NATO by the United States Defence Department was released in February 1997 and published by the British-American Security Information Council, another puppet body of the USA. Included in this were proposals to expand NATO membership to include Poland (who advised that they had put aside ยฃ1 billion sterling for its contribution to joining the alliance), the Czech Republic and Hungary, and for expansion of NATO's headquarters, outside Brussels, doubling the staff from 3000 to 6000.
The blueprint plan had been drawn up by Herbert van Foreest, the Assistant Secretary-General in charge of resources. The NATO summit on 8 - 9 July that year in Madrid naturally formally accepted these new members. In addition, Britain was advised that "NATO's eastward expansion [towards Russia] could cost UK taxpayers ยฃ2 billion sterling".[11][12]
In 2016 the incoming American Supreme Commander of NATO and of USA forces in Europe made an openly aggressive anti-Russia speech, as though the Cold War was still in progress. It was the clearest evidence that NATO is simply an American proxy force.[13]
Since joining NATO Poland has used the organisation to sabre-rattle provocatively against their age-old enemy, Russia.[14][15][16]
On Monday 11 April 2022 the BBC interviewed France's Professor Bruno Gollnisch, M.E.P. who condemned NATO expansions.[17]
Opposition
Just prior to the UK's 1997 General Election, the Western Goals Institute in London published an article entitled Time to Get Out of NATO by Gregory Lauder-Frost, opposing the above-mentioned enlargement of NATO and arguing that "internationalism, globalism, and now NATO threaten Britain's independence in foreign policy and defence."[18]
On 20 August 2021, following the disastrous invasion of Afghanistan the Berliner Zeitung newspaper called for a reassessment of NATO.[19]
In December 2021 Russia called for NATO to remove its forces from Eastern Europe.[20]
In his Summer 2023 book Geopolitical Upheaval in Eastern Europe, Stefan Korte sets forth the entire scenario of the Americans and their proxy, NATO, in Europe. In a brilliant analysis he attacks the eastward expansion of NATO, its de facto involvement in the Russo-Ukraine conflict, the NATO/American involvements in eastern Europe including their 'missile defence shield', the sabotage of Germany's gas pipelines and explains how the ultimate losers to NATO in Europe generally are the European states.[21]
Finland and Sweden
- On 3 July 2022 NATO invited Sweden and Finland on Wednesday to join the military alliance in one of the biggest shifts in European security in decades after Russia's invasion of Ukraine pushed Helsinki and Stockholm to drop their traditional of neutrality. NATO's 30 allies took the decision at their summit in Madrid and also agreed to formally treat Russia as the "most significant and direct threat to the allies' security", according to a summit statement. "Today, we have decided to invite Finland and Sweden to become members of NATO," NATO leaders said in their declaration, after Turkey lifted a veto on Finland and Sweden joining. Ratification in allied parliaments is likely to take up to a year, but once it is done, Finland and Sweden will be covered by NATO's Article 5 collective defence clause, putting them under the United States' protective nuclear umbrella.[22]
Ukraine
The manoeuvering by the covert operations of USA State agencies to create violent anti-Russian agitation and unrest in the Ukraine in 2013-14, has doubtless only been made possible by America's control over NATO which it now using in its neo-Cold War approach to Russia. This USA agitation was dramatically escalated in 2021[23][24][25][26] which ultimately led to Russia invading Ukraine on 24 February 2022. NATO and/or its members are supplying military equipment to Ukraine thus helping to escalate the situation, but also to test Russia's military capabilities at the expense of Ukrainian lives.

Invasion of Ukraine (2022)
On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded the breakaway (1992) republic of Ukraine. Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, described the invasion as a "special military operation" and said he wanted to "demilitarize" and "de-Nazify" Ukraine, rather than occupy it,[27][28][29] in order to stop it becoming a USA satellite state and it joining NATO and the European Union.
Statement from NATO:
- NATO condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia's brutal and unprovoked war against Ukraine - which is an independent, peaceful and democratic country, and a close NATO partner. The Alliance calls on President Putin to stop this war immediately, withdraw all his forces from Ukraine and engage in genuine diplomacy.[30] [...] A strong, independent Ukraine is vital for the stability of the Euro-Atlantic area. Relations between NATO and Ukraine date back to the early 1990s and have since developed into one of the most substantial of NATOโs partnerships. Since 2014, in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, co-operation has been intensified in critical areas.[31]
On May 9, 2023, NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said:
- The war in Ukraine has fundamentally changed NATO, but then you have to remember the war didnโt start in 2022.....The war started in 2014."[32]
Assessment
A very full and detailed assessment of the war in Ukraine was prepared by a Swiss research group. One can read it here: Ukraine War: An Analysis
On 8 October 2022 the well-known expert on Russian affairs, John Laughland, addressed the Annual Conference of the Traditional Britain Group on the Ukraine conflict: The Russia-Ukraine-European Crisis
The American very small 'c' website conservapedia describes the war as one between NATO and Russia.[33] This was confirmed in a press conference by Jens Stoltenberg, NATO's head in October 2022 when he said that if Russia wins it will be a defeat for NATO.[34]
An important book by former Bundestag employee Stefan Korte, Geopolitical Upheaval in Eastern Europe gives a very full 'essential reading' assessment of this conflict. [35]
Quotes
- Let's not forget what the origin of the problem is. There is no place in modern Europe for ethnically pure states. That's a 19th century idea and we are trying to transition into the 21st century, and we are going to do it with multi-ethnic states. โ Wesley Kanne Clark, US-born jewish former NATO general, 1999.[36][37]
