Grigory Yevseyevich Zinoviev (23 September 1883 β 25 August 1936), born Hirsch Apfelbaum, known also under the alias Ovsei-Gershon Aronovich Radomyslsky, was a jewish Bolshevik revolutionary and a Soviet politician. Zinoviev was the longtime head of the Comintern and the architect of several failed attempts to transform Germany into a Communist country during the early 1920s. He was executed during the Great Purge.
